Sands China Celebrates Service Excellence Through ‘Because We Care’ Team Member Awards 2025

Sands China Ltd. recently brought together its workforce at The Londoner Macao to celebrate the 2025 edition of its Because We Care Team Member Annual Awards, an initiative that recognizes exceptional dedication, teamwork, and service excellence across the organization. The ceremony honoured 100 individuals and teams whose contributions exemplify the values that define Sands China’s service-driven culture.

More than a recognition event, the awards serve as a platform to reinforce the behaviours and attitudes that shape guest experiences across Sands China’s properties. By spotlighting real stories of care and commitment, the company continues to inspire its workforce to uphold and elevate service standards year after year.

A Culture Rooted in Care and Collaboration

Established in 2013, the Because We Care Awards are deeply embedded in Sands China’s people philosophy. The program reflects four guiding principles—friendliness, professionalism, attentive listening, and teamwork—which together form the foundation of the company’s approach to service and internal collaboration.

This strong people-first culture has earned Sands China notable external recognition. In 2025, the company achieved Top Employer certification from the globally respected Top Employers Institute, marking a milestone as the first tourism and hospitality organization in Macao—and the first integrated resort operator in the Asia-Pacific region—to receive the distinction.

A Transparent and Inclusive Selection Process

This year’s awards attracted 642 nominations from across 26 departments, highlighting both individual achievements and collective team efforts. Over a six-month period, Sands China’s workforce—numbering more than 27,000 team members—actively participated in the selection process by reviewing nomination stories and casting votes via an internal digital platform. The process generated over 100,000 responses, reflecting strong engagement and peer recognition.

A dedicated judging panel then reviewed the submissions to identify the top 100 finalists, representing a mix of individuals and teams and involving more than 500 team members in total. These finalists advanced to the final stage of the awards program.

Recognising Excellence Across the Organisation

During the ceremony, winners were announced across nine award categories, each highlighting different dimensions of the Because We Care ethos. Grant Chum, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Sands China Ltd., together with Dr. Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman, personally presented certificates to all finalists on stage.

Award recipients received trophies, monetary rewards, and additional incentives, with total prizes exceeding MOP 900,000. The celebration was attended by more than 900 team members, creating an atmosphere of pride and shared accomplishment as colleagues came together to applaud those who consistently bring Sands China’s service philosophy to life.
